TRACK GUIDE

Knockmullen House first appeared on the point-to-point calendar in November 2019 and since then it has been home to the Wexford (F) autumn point-to-point, with the spring fixture remaining at Ballinaboola.

Set across three fields on the lands of the Doyle family with are well known within Wexford point-to-point circles, it is a good viewing track with spectators able to park above the track and look down at the finish, with a good view also through to the back straight.

A right-handed track, the runners begin in the home straight at the back of the final fence and complete three full circuits, with the first jumped at the top of the home straight before turning into the back straight which runs parallel to the N25 New Ross by-pass.

The two fences on this section are quite early in the back straight which leaves a long run on the level before they lift off at the fourth fence which is located in the home straight before the runners continue to climb over the final fence to the finish line.

BARRY O'NEILL

It is a sharp track with quite a stiff finish.

You need to jump the fences in the back straight well, particularly on the final circuit as it is a track I find that they can get racing early at.

Because it would ride as a slightly sharp track that can encourage riders to get going early, but it can get testing in the home straight and that can catch them out from the back of the second-last fence.
